The Domaine is reserved exclusively for fly fishermen, sport fishing.
If you want to discover fly fishing, we can arrange a course with an instructor.
La pêche à la mouche au Domaine c'est...
Fishing at the Domaine is...
Crystal-clear water
The Domaine de Sommedieue is lucky enough to be supplied with spring water all year round. This means that the water throughout the course is translucent.
Our fly-fishermen are delighted to be able to practise sight-fishing in both summer and winter.
This spring is fed by 12,000 hectares of forest at the head of the basin, at the foot of the Côtes de Meuse, which explains the quality of the water, as there are no agricultural, household or industrial discharges.
An intimate journey
A 12-hectare course, including 4.5 hectares of water and 4 km of riverside course. A succession of 4 small lakes and a first-class river.
The crystal-clear water is perfect for all types of fly fishing: sight nymphing, drowning and dry fishing.
To respect the tranquility of the fishermen, the field is limited to 15 fishermen per day.
Fishable all year round
The Domaine can be fished all year round, even in very hot weather. The spring that feeds the lakes does not exceed 10°C, and the lakes do not freeze in winter.
We tested the water temperature during the 2022 heatwave: 8 to 10 ° upstream, 12 to 14 downstream.
Trout feed all year round, even in heavy rainfall and hot weather.
High biodiversity
The quality of our water allows several species to live and develop: gammarids, minnows, sticklebacks, red-clawed crayfish, etc. In early spring, you may be able to see the spawning of the planar lamprey.
Our lakes are now home to a number of salmonids: brown trout, rainbow trout, brook salmon and leopard trout. Some specimens can reach 6kg and 75cm.
Because of the quality of the water, we have natural reproduction, in addition to our weekly restocking.
A diversity of insects
It would be far too long to list all the species of insects at the Domaine.
However, we can already identify different insect families: Ephemeroptera, Trichoptera, Neuroptera, Plecoptera, Odonata and Diptera.
More specifically, grasshoppers, ants, beetles, dragonflies, crane flies, march browns, mayflies, green asses, wood carriers... all inhabit our lakes.
Rules
All fly fishermen who come to fish at the Domaine are expected to be familiar with these rules and to apply them.
Guide
Whether you are a beginner or an experienced angler, we have a state-certified fishing guide on hand to help you with your booking.
